Every year my family and I go apple picking. This year we went a little late but we still got some good ones and I always make some apple sauce. Today I did a small batch for the kids it made 2 jars (and a small bowl for me to eat before the kids!) I’m going to make some Apple Oatmeal cookies (recipe to come) and some more apple sauce tomorrow. You can double this recipe or cut in half as needed.
–8 large apples, skinned ,cored, and cut in quarters
–juice from 1 lemon
–1 tsp cinnamon
–2 tsp vanilla
–2 T brown sugar (or more to taste)
–1/2 cup water
Skin, core, and cut your apples into quarters. Put the pieces into your crock pot. Add the juice from the lemon, and the water. Pour in the vanilla and add the cinnamon and brown sugar.
Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. When the apples are super tender, mash with a potato masher or large fork. After 6 hours I stirred the apples and the fell apart there was very little to mash!
Hope you enjoy!

This is another good way to make applesauce, I make mine in the microwave I add a little water to the cored and cut up apples cover it and microwave..add the cinnamon and sugar to taste then let it cool down a little and freeze it.Its great to have fresh applesauce in the winter.
How long will they store for?
If you preassure can them, up to a year, if you just freeze them about 6 months
