Jack O Lantern Mason Jar
This painted mason jar is too cute to be a very spooky Jack O Lantern. He makes a cheery and welcoming presence on your porch or in the home lit up with a candle. This simple and fun craft can even be made from a cleaned out pasta, pickle, or jelly jar rescued from the recycling bin-making it a very thrifty project that even the kids can get in on. Grab a case of mason jars and make enough to line your steps with these grinning gourds. They would be fun filled with wrapped candies to gift to teachers, friends, and neighbors.
Supplies:
quart sized jar ( with a smooth side)
orange spray paint
twine
painters tape
Directions:
Wipe your jar down with alcohol and a paper towel, try to handle it as little as possible- this removes dirt and oil left by your fingers and will help the paint adhere better.
Set your mason on newspaper, outdoors or in a well-ventilated space.
Cut eyes, nose, and mouth from painters tape and place on smooth side of glass jar. Press tape firmly on to make sure all edges are down.
Spray a light tack coat, allow to dry for 10 minutes, spray additional coats until desired coverage has been reached ( 2-3 coats)
Gently peel up each piece of tape at the corner, lift and remove.
To make your paint more permanent and scratch proof add 2-3 coats of clear spray paint to protect the finish.
Wrap twine around the threads on the neck to resemble vines.
Drop in a candle or battery operated votive to light up his crooked smile.

That happens every single year….
