How to Save Money on Back to School Clothes for Kids
Give Swap.com a Try
Swap.com is an online consignment shop full of brand name, like new clothing for children and adults. You can find all sorts of items in a wide variety of sizes and from a variety of sellers. They also consign, toys, books, movies and now home decor! Swap.com is free to sign up for and take a look around.
Host a Clothing Swap
Dig out your old children’s clothing items and start swapping with family and friends who also have children. Pick a date, pick a location, and have everyone bring their gently used clothing items. Then, let the fun begin! It is a fun and free way to get the items you need.
You can still find tons of gently used items on eBay and Craigslist and in many cases enjoy free shipping or local pick up. Search for clothing by entering your child’s gender and size and see what pops up. Look for sellers with positive feedback to ensure a great experience.
Like eBay and Craigslist, you can shop local Facebook groups that are near you, this is how I got some great furniture for my house as well! Many people will also announce garage sales in these groups with pictures so you can decide if you want to go!
Hit up Garage Sales/Consignment Shops
A true frugalista knows you can find your best deals when shopping second hand. Shop your local yard sales, consignment shops, thrift stores, and other second-hand hot spots to see what clothing and accessories you can find. Shop on discount days and save even more.
This concept seems to be bigger up north but they are huge sales put over a weekend where you can sell clothes and shop and at the end of the sale many items go for $1 just to clear out! I lived for these sales and would stock up when they came to town.
Here are a few sales I know there are many more!

Take Advantage of Tax-Free Shopping
In order to make back to school shopping easier for parents, many states offer a tax-free shopping weekend. Find out if your state is participating in this tax-free shopping weekend so you can take advantage of it. It is such as easy way to save.
Get Cash Back
Make sure you are getting your cashback with Ebates when you do shop online. This will maximize your savings. Always pair this with sales and coupon codes!
Stock Up Free Gift Cards

I am a mom to 5 kids, homeschool mom, blogger, social media junkie, Frugalista, Book Worm, and Closet Want-to-be Chef. We are a Roadschool family (homeschooling on the road while traveling fulltime).
I grew up learning ways to save from my mom and grandma. I started my own coupon journey when my first child was born in 2009 and started the blog on 2010 when baby #2 was born to share my tips with everyone who kept asking about how I was getting diapers for $1 a pack!
