Being your own boss sounds like a dream come true, and I have to admit it is most of the time. There are many benefits to owning your own business; it's like you’re investing in your own future. Let's check out a few of the many benefits to owning your own business and being your own boss.
6 Benefits to Being Your Own Boss
My favorite part is being in control of my schedule and being able to be with my kids whenever I want. I learned so many of these skills being a military spouse. While my husband was deployed, we had to figure things out and make this business work!
There isn’t a lot that I could do from home without leaving my kids, so that’s how my blog got started.
#1. More flexible schedule
Even owning a brick and motor business you can still be a ‘stay at home mom' if you own the business your kids can go with you when needed and you can plan your schedule!
Although many people might think being your own boss means you work less, it just means you can choose when you work.
I won't like many weeks I work more than 40 hours but I love it, and many times it doesn't feel like work.
I’m able to travel with my kids more or be there when they need me. Sometimes I work in the early morning or late at night. I don’t have to call off work when one of the kids need me.
#2. What you say goes
Although there are consequences for doing what you want, it is nice! Every decision I make falls back on me and no one else. At the end of the day, I’m the one making decisions for my business, and I think that is super important. The bottom line is that what I say goes. Sure, people can argue with me about it, but it’s my business and my rules.
#3. Sense of satisfaction
When I wake up in the morning, I know everything I do is to grow my own business, which is incredible. Every sale I make, I’m making money for my family and not someone else. I think there is a lot of satisfaction in owning my own business.
This satisfaction is multiplied by being able to hire other people and know I am making jobs for some great people!
#4. Teaching my children
Everything I do in life is because of my kids. I work hard to teach my children. Owning my own business teachers my kids a lot as well. They’re learning the value of hard work, sacrifice, and how to manage money. Nothing teaches a kid more about owning a business than when they watch their parents.
I fully belive actions speak louder then words.
#5. Make as much money as you want
Depending on your skill level, you can make much more money when you own your own business. You aren’t limited by making the amount of money someone else is telling you thats what you can make.
#6. Something to pass onto your kids
Don’t you want to leave your kids something? A legacy? Handing down a business to your kids is such an incredible thing! A positive benefit of being your own boss is passing something onto your kids!
One of my favorite quotes is from veteran Bruster’s Real Ice Cream franchise owner: “The experience I gained in the United States Army has proven to be invaluable in running my Bruster’s Real Ice Cream franchise. Skills in leadership, planning, execution, training, crisis management, and motivating have been true assets in this endeavor. I also do my best to share the qualities and traits I learned during my military service, such as discipline, good work ethic, integrity, honesty, and cooperation. Completing the mission is still priority number one, and the military was integral in providing me the tools to reach my goals.” – Bill Palaich, Clermont, FL
It is possible to have all this and more being your own boss, and Bruster's Real Ice Cream is making it possible. Right now Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is offering a 50% military discount for franchise ownership. A regular franchise is $30,000.00, for veterans it is $15,000.00.
That's a great deal to get into your own business and build freedom into your life! I know from experience transitioning out of the military and into civilian life with your family can be scaring. Having a game plan makes it more exciting.
