DIY Candy Corn Jar Decor
A sweet treat holder, this cute candy corn painted jar is adorable sitting on a table or counter to bring a touch of fall to your home. It is also a great to fill with candy to gift to a teacher, friend, or neighbor. Place a votive inside to create a simple and festive lantern. You can use any type of jar or glass that has smooth sides without raised lettering, this is a perfect use for clean, empty spaghetti, pickle, or jelly jars. If you have some spare spray paint on hand this quick craft is also a free one!
Supplies Needed:
Clean, smooth sided jar
orange spray paint
white spray paint
yellow spray paint
painters tape
rafia
Directions:
Measure jar so that it is divided into three roughly equal parts, mark lightly with a marker.
Cover center section with painters tape, press edges down tightly to ensure a crisp, clean line.
Spray a light coat of white on the top section of your jar, allow to dry 5 minutes. Apply 1-2 more coats, after your final coat allow it to dry for 1 hour.
Flip jar over and paint the bottom third the same way, a light tack coat of yellow, drying between layers. Paint down and avoid overspray.
Allow your jar to dry overnight.
Remove painters tape from center, place a line of painters tape over the edge of yellow and white you previously painted, cover all but the middle with newspaper.
Paint center orange with 2-3 coats.
Dry thoroughly and it is ready for use. Since the paint is on the outside it is safe to fill with candy or place a candle inside.
