OK so I want to answer a few tailgating questions below and I share some of my store-bought tailgating games along with my favorite DIY ones too. I’d love to know what games you play at your tailgate parties, with kids and adults!
What do you do while tailgating?
The biggest part of tailgating is the food and socializing. People also play games and get all decorated up for the game with hair color and body paint. Of course, there is plenty of beer too.
Do you tailgate at baseball games?
Yes, pretty much any sport has its version of tailgating. Any reason to get together and have some great food!
How early do you start tailgating?
Parking lots generally open 5 hours before the game. People start showing up at this time some only show up an hour beforehand it all depends.
What are the best foods for tailgating?
Any finger foods or anything that can be grilled. Also, consider things that can be prepared the night ahead of time. We have a huge list of the best tailgate food ideas if you need some recipes!

Cornhole Game from Hands on As We Grow – This is really easy to make and the kids can have a blast decorating it. They can even decorate it at the tailgate and it can double as 2 activities!
Football Game Charades from The Joys of Boys – This is a fun way to get everyone involved and you might even make some new friends because people passing by can’t help but want to guess too!
Yard Yahtzee from The Joys of Boys – Giant dice and a fun twist one the addicting game! This is so much more fun than the phone app!
DIY Bean Bag Toss from Modge Podge Rocks – This is easy to make with some bean bags and paper plates and it makes it so easy to take with you anywhere!
Ladder Golf from Mom Endeavors – This is an easy and fun little game made with pip and can be disassembled for easy transport!
Oversized Checkboard Game from A Home to Grow Old In – My kids love playing checkers and the bigger the board the more fun they seem to have! This is one of my favorite DIY Tailgating Games for Kids.
Outdoor Tic Tac Toe from Ideas for the Home by Kenarry – This fun Tic tac Toe game would also work in the car to keep kids busy on road trips!
DIY Ring Toss from Mom Endeavors – This is an easy and fun ring toss game. You can make it in your team’s colors too!
Frisbee Tic Tac Toe from A Turtles Life for Me – This is a great twist to Tic Tac Toe that can be played inside or outside!
