Now that you have your WHY you want to blog and WHAT you want to blog about let's nail down your WHO.
This is where we roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty!
WHO are you going to be? I don't see many people telling new bloggers to do this but DO YOUR RESEARCH! Here is what I mean.
First, sit down and make a list of several possible blog names, or variations of a name you would like to use.
Second, head to Google. Type those names into Google, and Facebook and make sure they aren't being used. If they are, start over.
If there are no listings in Google or Facebook, head over and do a Trademark search. You don't want to infringe on anyone's trademark as it can end up costing you a lot of money!
Now you can head to Go Daddy and buy the domain name yourself or you can get your domain name in my step by step blog set up tomorrow! If you decide to buy go with the .com URL it's the best SEO choice, it's what your readers will expect and brands too!
I do suggest getting the .net, .info, and .org of your URL but then pointing them back to your.com domain.
Few things to keep in mind, If the name you want to use is taken via Google or Trademark search here are a few things to know.
Do NOT just add an ‘A' or ‘The' to the name. Example, My trademark and site name is The Frugal Navy Wife. Someone tried to start A Frugal Navy Wife and got shut down for infringing on my trademark.
If someone is using the .com of the URL you want, move on to a new name do not do a .info or .net etc of that URL.
Also, make sure your name is not to close to something someone else is using. You don't want to create confusion as this will hurt your traffic and can cause some legal trouble. An example would be trying to use The Frugal Navy Mom. While different it's still close enough that readers will go looking for your site and find The Frugal Navy Wife because it is established and you will lose traffic.
Now that all the research is done tomorrow we will actually dig into building your blog! This is where the fun starts!
I'd love for you to hit reply and tell me the name you decided on!

I grew up learning ways to save from my mom and grandma. I started my own coupon journey when my first child was born in 2009 and started the blog on 2010 when baby #2 was born to share my tips with everyone who kept asking about how I was getting diapers for $1 a pack!
