Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day. But when you are NOT a morning person, like me, what is a mom to do? Yes, I keep cereal, Pop Tarts, and easy breakfast foods in my cabinet along with the few fruits my kids love. Then I was introduced to this easy Instant Pot yogurt recipe! Not all pressure cooker yogurt is created equally, trust me!! This is a super easy Instant Pot recipe.
Instant Pot Yogurt Recipe – Pressure Cooker Yogurt
With 4 kids (soon to be 5!) One of their favorites seems to be yogurt. They eat it like it's going out of style! They eat so much of it, and it cost us a huge chunk of change, so my first thought is can I save money by making it myself?Of course, I could, but I didn't really dabble in the art of yogurt making until I got my Instant Pot and kept reading how easy it was in the Facebook Groups. So then I decided to dive in, and I'm I did!
Here is the recipe I use!
Ingredients
Glass jars that fit in Instant Pot
Milk
Yogurt with live cultures
Directions
Fill clean jars with milk leaving about 1 inch of space at the top. Place the trivet in Instant Pot and add 1 cup water to the bottom. Place jars of milk on the trivet.
Place and lock the Instant Pot lid. Use steam function setting time for 1 minute. Allow natural pressure release and then remove the lid.
Allow milk to cool to between 115 and 95 degrees. I find removing them from pot allows them to cool faster. If any “skin” forms on top if the milk, remove it now.
Add 1 Teaspoon of live culture yogurt per every cup of milk. Mix gently until fully dissolved and then place jars back in the pot on the trivet. Place and lock the lid and set Instant Pot to the yogurt setting. The 8-hour setting works well for small batches the 10 hour one for larger batches. Once finished the Instant Pot will readout will show “YOGT.” Cover and place in refrigerator.
