Did you know you can make oatmeal in a cast iron skillet? It's true! This skillet oatmeal is easy and yummy. This apple crisp oatmeal recipe is one of my favorites, my kids love it and will actually eat it!
Skillet Oatmeal – Apple Crisp Oatmeal Recipe
One of my favorite recipes is apple pie overnight oatmeal recipe. I love getting it ready at night and waking up to ready made breakfast. That recipe lead to me trying this one because it was really easy. This one of our favorite breakfast for dinner recipes.
Ingredients:
2 small apples, you can go with honey crisp for a sweeter dish or granny smith for one that has a bigger apple taste.
½ cup water
1 cup rolled oats
2 cups milk or almond milk
dash of cinnamon
Directions:
Carefully wash the apples before you peel, cut and core them.
Cut the apples into pieces that are no more than 2/3 inch.
Place in the skillet with the water and cook for about 10 minutes or until as tender as you would like.
Set apples aside and add in the milk cinnamon and oats.
Cook at medium high heat until the oats have absorbed the milk and are fuller.
When the oatmeal is done, top with the apples and serve from the skillet. (The skillet will still be HOT so be careful).
