Do you have a new move coming up soon? I know how stressful it can be moving to a different city because we travel to a new one every few months. There are some things you can do to make moving to a new city, not so stressful.
Scope out your new city before you move
You can look on Google Earth and check out the city you’re moving to before you get there. When you know what your new city looks like before you get there, it will be much easier to get around. Just spend some time on Google Earth, you’ll love it.
We love to turn it into an adventure and Google things to do and make a list of places to see, things to do, and places to eat.
Plan a night out
Out first night in town we always plan to eat at one of the places on our list that first night. Let's be real, you just got in, you may or may not have your stuff, but it certainly isn't unpacked and you are not ready to cook anything. So enjoy a night out!
When we got into Savannah Ga one place on our list was Paula Deen's Lady and Son's YUM!
Keep track of where things are
When moving to a new city, one thing you will want to do is keep track of where things are. It’s going to be stressful enough as it is, the last thing you need is to dig for weeks to find something that you need. Trust me, digging for utensils after you have moved is not fun!
The best way is to label what is in each box including what room each box should go in.
Meeting new people
The best way to learn about your new area and get settled in is by meeting new people, but this can be hard. As a military family, we would attend command events. We also try to find a church we like and as a homeschool family, we try to find a homeschool group to take field trips with.
Make your life as easy as possible
When we move to a new city, we don’t take our furniture. Want to know why? We just use CORT Furniture Rental. This is the easiest way to move to a new city. Not taking your furniture with you and just renting it is the perfect solution. No matter how long you need to rent furniture, whether temporarily or long-term, CORT Furniture Rental has you covered. I love this because no matter where you’re moving or for how long, you can have furniture delivered.
