Are you a military family trying to get a little help for back to school or even free school supplies? I know it can be financially difficult to try and get ready for back to school when your budget is tight. For military families everywhere, here are a few back to school help resources for you.
Free School Supplies for Military Families
Check out Operation Homefront
Our Heroes serve overseas daily, a small thing we can do is ensure their family is taken care of back home. Operation Homefront offers the “The Back to School Brigade“. Different parts of the country take part in this operation, supplying military families with free school supplies. Look for a local division near you!
Blue Star Families
Getting some financial help during the school year is everything. Blue Star Families helps to get books into the hands of military children. Every year books are donated to military families and even libraries on base. You can find out more about Blue Star Families here.
Help for additional items
When it comes down to being in the military a child shouldn’t go without (really no child should go without). However, I’m excited there are programs out there specifically for military families. One of these resources happens to be called Our Military Kids. This program offers financial help for military families in the form of help for sports camps, sports, fine arts camps, and more. If a child is struggling, they can even get tutoring.
Check for local programs
Most of these are national programs that exist, however, there are also local programs that are just as helpful. Keep an eye out for programs that are directed at military families. Don’t be shy about looking for programs that are designed to help military families, like yours and ours.
Did you know this? If you’re a military family, you’re eligible for free tutoring. A live tutor via the Internet is available to help military children with their homework. This is a program offered through the gov’t. All subjects and all skills can be tutored through Tudor.com. Their tutors are screened and selected to be able to help our students with their work. I love this!
I hope these resources help your family get ready for back to school. Gathering supplies and getting help throughout the school year is important. Do you have a resource that helps military families? Please feel free to share and spread the word.
I am a mom to 5 kids, homeschool mom, blogger, social media junkie, Frugalista, Book Worm, and Closet Want-to-be Chef. We are a Roadschool family (homeschooling on the road while traveling fulltime).
I grew up learning ways to save from my mom and grandma. I started my own coupon journey when my first child was born in 2009 and started the blog on 2010 when baby #2 was born to share my tips with everyone who kept asking about how I was getting diapers for $1 a pack!
