Summer is the perfect time to spruce up your romantic life with the one that you love so dearly. But, what do you do if you don’t have money to dish out for those romantic dates? With 4 kids most of the time it's all we can do to just pay a babysitter so we have become pretty creative on our date nights! Here are some totally free summer date ideas we have done in the past.
Free Summer Date Ideas
Now I love getting outdoors when it's warm plus so much outside is free to do so much. But you can have fun inside too!
Relax in the Tub
Light some candles, sprinkle some flower petals, and sip some wine in the tub. Going on a date in the tub is free, but it can look like you spent a million dollars on it if you add a little spice. Take time to just relax with each other in the tub. If you really want to add that extra elegance add in a bath bomb to your water for a great aromatherapy and super soft skin.
Look for Free Community Events
Go to a movie in the park event, find a free festival, or enjoy a parade. All these things are free to date ideas, but you have to watch out for them in your local newspaper. Many times your town will also have an online event calendar that you can check out for freebies. You can also just Google “Free Events in (your town here)”
Go to the Beach
Most beaches don’t cost anything to walk and swim in their sandy beaches. However, if you go to the beach, you may have some parking costs. To avoid parking, park further away and enjoy time walking to the beach together. You can even pack a lunch or dinner and enjoy a nice meal. I do suggest picking a spot to eat that isn't in the ‘main traffic area' by where everyone is accessing the beach. So go right or left once you hit the sand! Don't forget the sunscreen!
Have a Picnic and a Movie
Head outside after the kids are asleep for a late night picnic and a movie. Bring your laptop outside and pick your favorite movie. Make sure your picnic basket is packed with chocolate covered strawberries, wine, and little snacks you can feed to each other.
Go on a Bike Ride
Go on a scenic bike ride through the park or your neighborhood. Biking side by side is a great way to spend time together while staying healthy. If you want a little healthy competition, make it a race to see who can make it home first.
Hit a National Park Site
Now I'm not talking about Yosemite or Yellow Stone (unless you live near them). There are over 400 National Park Sites around the country and many of them are free! you can find your local NPS sites and go learn about your area.
Watch a Sunset
I know it sounds corny but grab a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of your favorite wine and watch the sunset. This is a great way to reconnect after a long week.
When it comes to your significant other, it’s important to spend time together even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on it. What other date ideas can you share? I would love to know in the comments below!
