Rainbow Cake in a Jar
One thing I like to do is bake for the holidays or do candy for gifts for friends and neighbors. One year I did Rainbow Cake in a jar and it was a huge hit. I have since done it in layered Christmas colors and it's still a hit. Here is my original recipe but you can change the colors out to match any theme or holiday. I have read some people send these to their soldiers overseas. I am not sure how that would work you need some kind of preservative. If you do this please share how you send them! Learning Science in Nashville, Tennessee
We were recently in Nashville, Tennessee and had a blast! It got me thinking that you can really homeschool anywhere and it doesn't have to be AT home. We had a great day out seeing the city and learned science. They covered wind, energy, the human body and more all via games and hands on activities. They had a great PE 'class' climbing a 7 story tower and running around (so did mommy!) We were also able to cover a bit of social studies. Homeschooling doesn't happen just at home. As a military family we spent a lot of time with my husband not home, we went through several deployments and when he wasn’t deployed he had to be deployment ready so he would be out to sea for 2-8 weeks at a time. Then when he WAS home he had duty days every 8 days where he had to stay overnight on the ship.
