How to make Chocolate Strawberry Love Birds:
Cut the crown and all leaves of each strawberry, making them flat on the top.
Heat the chocolate melts according to package directions. (I heated in the microwave at 1 minute for 50% power. Stirred, and then heated again for 30 seconds at 50% power. Repeat if necessary in 30-second intervals until melted and creamy)
Insert a lollipop stick or wooden skewer into the top of the cut strawberry, making sure not to push all the way through. Dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate candy, twisting to get chocolate all the way around the strawberry.
Remove from the lollipop stick and place onto a parchment-lined plate or flat baking sheet. I used a fork to slowly remove from the stick by lifting the strawberry up, and off of the stick.
Immediately add two upside-down heart sprinkles as the ears.
Next, add two eyeball sprinkles. If the chocolate has already hardened on the strawberry, dip the tip of a knife in the remaining melted chocolate, and add a tiny dab to the back of each eyeball to help them adhere.
Last, add another heart sprinkle as the beak, centered under the eyes, again using the extra chocolate if necessary to attach.
Repeat this process until all strawberries are dipped and decorated. Let sit for around 2-3 minutes before serving.
The strawberries can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
