What's the difference between freezer jam and regular jam?
The main difference between freezer jam and regular jam is the way in which it is made- regular jam is made by cooking down the fruit with sugar until it thickens, while freezer jam is made simply by mixing together crushed fruit and sugar and then freezing it. This lack of cooking means that freezer jams tend to have a shorter shelf life than regular jams- they should be eaten within 3-4 months.
Can you put freezer jam in glass jars?
Yes, you can. However, make sure to leave at least 1/2 inch of headspace at the top of the jar in order to allow for expansion as the jam freezes. Also, be sure to use jars that are made specifically for freezing; regular glass jars may break when frozen.
