Yum! This is the best.
I use 3 bags of Lipton family size iced tea bags in 4 cups water just off boil for 10 min, 2/3 cup sugar with 2/3 cup water to make simple syrup, fill 2qt pitcher halfway with ice, pour the hot tea and hot syrup over the ice and top off with cold water. The ice melts in a couple minutes and the tea is diluted to proper strength. Killer recipe!
This might be a silly question, but as I’ve never made sweet tea before, you just use Lipton black tea? Looks amazing, can’t wait to try!
No silly questions! Yes, I use the black tea and the big family size bags when I make a big batch for the fridge.
Does this make a whole gallon?
Yes, I use a gallon-sized pitcher and even that doesn’t last long around my house!
If they don’t have the family size bags how many of the regular ones do you use?
My question is the same as Ashley’s- if you don’t have family size bags how many?
Ok..I’m a huge CFA tea fan. Like, I get one everyday. It’s my coffee (I don’t drink coffee). I’ve tried to make my own tea a million times and never get it right. Now that we may have to be on lockdown with this virus, I need to be able to make my own tea it CFA closes all the way. This recipe is so good!! I had another brand of tea bags and used a little less sugar. It tastes great! Thank you!!!
How many tea bags did you use? We are on lockdown and I’m with you, I need my sweet tea!
Does this make 2qts or a gallon? Directions say pour in 2 qt pitcher and then in comments it’s stated it makes a gallon? Just a lil confused,, and in lockdown also, need my sweet tea LOL Thanks
When you are making the tea (letting it steep) you want to use the smaller 2 quart container because it will be concentrated. Once the tea has steeped (after the first 15 minutes) you will pour that into the gallon container and fill the rest of the way with water. I hope that helps it is a gallon of finished tea.
How many small tea bags … I don’t have the family size
We tried making this but it just doesn’t taste quite right. The recipe calls for 2 Family Size Lipton Tea bags which we used. In the photos for the recipe it shows smaller bags and a lot more. Also, in one of the questions above you answered to someone else it says Lipton Black Tea but it doesn’t specify that on the ingredient list.
What is the exact type and size and quantity of tea bags that should be used?
Also, if I’m ready the other questions and comments correctly there is a step missing in the recipe where you need to transfer it to a gallon size container before adding the remaining water?
Please clarify.
How many small tea bags do I use if I don’t have the Fam Size?
It looks like this question wasn’t answered but I counted 7 small bags on her photo and that’s what I normally use (I live in France and we can’t get the family bags).
Hi! I doubled the recipe thinking it would make a gallon if I did it that way. Did I just make two gallons worth? Will this still be very concentrated? Thank you!
Stupid question here bc I’ve never made sweet tea before. Your ingredient list says 2 Lipton Family Size Tea Bags, but the photos show a lot of bags. So do you mean two boxes of bags? Not just two individual tea bags, correct?
