Easy Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff Recipe
We are a family of 7 so when I talk about my Instant Pot I am talking about my large 8 Quart Instant Pot Duo. This one has been big enough for everything we have needed.
What is stroganoff sauce made of?
It is made of an easy butter and flour roux that is then flavored with garlic, broth, and other spices.

What is the difference between beef stroganoff and beef bourguignon?
Beef Stroganoff is made from bite-sized cutes of beef, sauteed just long enough to brown the outside, then finished with sour cream. Beef bourguignon the beef is braised in red wine.

What type of meat is best for beef stroganoff?
When I make it I find cubed meat on manager special at the grocery store so my answer is whatever is cheapest! But sirloin steak tips and beef tenderloin are the most popular.

What can I use instead of sour cream in beef stroganoff?
If you don't have sour cream you can use plain or Greek yogurt as well. I'd mix in a tablespoon of lemon juice with it.
Do you have to use egg noodles for beef stroganoff?
You can use any type of noodles really or even substitute it with rice. White rice works best if you are going that route.
What do you serve with beef stroganoff?

Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons diced garlic
2 tablespoons flour
1-2 pounds stew beef cut into 1” cubes
2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 packet of Beefy Mushroom soup mix
1 pint of mushrooms
8 ounces of wide egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper
Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff Instructions
Set Instant Pot to sauté function.
Add 1 tablespoon butter and olive oil and allow it to sizzle. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add remaining butter and flour and stir constantly as it begins to cook. Cook for 2 minutes, but don’t allow it to burn.
Add beef and brown, but do not cool all the way through.
Remove beef from the pot and set it aside.
Add beef stock and Worcestershire sauce.
Add soup mix.
Add beef back in.
Add mushrooms and mix thoroughly.
Set Instant Pot to Beef function for 20 minutes. Make sure venting is turned off and close the lid.
Allow pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes. Release remainder of pressure by venting Instant Pot.
Mix in noodles. If the mixture is a bit too thick, add a bit of water or beef broth until noodles are covered.
Replace the top on Instant Pot and make sure the venting is closed. Set to high pressure for 5 minutes.
Delicious Instant Pot Breakfast Ideas
Allow to vent naturally for 15 minutes and then release the remaining pressure.
Stir in sour cream and serve immediately!
